Originally formed as rockabilly band the Runaway Boys in Melbourne, Australia by school friends Chris Cheney (b. 2 January 1975, Melbourne, Australia; guitar) and Scott Owen (b. 14 February 1975, Melbourne, Australia; upright bass), the band soon tired of performing cover versions and changed their name to the Living End in 1994 to concentrate on original material.
